Governor Shumlin has backed an effort to encourage the federal government to reclassify marijuana as a drug that has medicinal benefits. It’s a move that would put it in the same category as many prescription drugs.

Windsor County State’s Attorney Robert Sand, Vermont Law School Professor Michelle Martinez Campbell and Rutland City police Captain Scott Tucker discuss how this would change how medicinal marijuana could be distributed. We also discuss efforts to decriminalize marijuana in Vermont.

Also in the program, the role of the state auditor in stopping embezzlement. Nancy Remsen of the Burlington Free Press discusses her reporting on how the capacity and power of the auditor’s office has changed significantly over time, and whether culture or systems are the strongest check against potential embezzlement by public employees.
