Author David Macaulay is best
known for his ability to explain the way things work. He has written and
illustrated more than 20 books on the "hows" and "whys" of everything from levers and pulleys to ATMs and satellite dishes to the human body.
His work has even earned him a MacArthur "genius" grant. His latest book,
"Built to Last," is an updated version of three previous works – "Castle,"
"Cathedral," and "Mosque" – rolled into one.  We talk to Macaulay about his work and about
the enduring power of architecture.
