Democrats are in the majority in the Vermont House and Senate – and that’s a scenario that makes Republican lawmakers work even harder to shape the key bills being debated at the Statehouse. Monday on Vermont Edition we talk with GOP lawmakers about their assessment of the legislative session so far. Our guests are Senator Peg Flory and House Minority Leader Don Turner.

Also in the program, 72 percent of public schools in Vermont are not meeting the Adequate Yearly Progress goals required by the No Child Left Behind Act. We talk with Jeanne Collins, superintendent of the Burlington School District, where all nine schools did not meet AYP targets, about whether this is the best method for tracking school achievement.
