In his inaugural address last
week, Peter Shumlin laid out some of his priorities for the next two years. Now
we hear from some local advocacy organizations about their priorities for this
legislative session. We talk to Lisa Ventriss, president of the Vermont
Business Roundtable; Jared Carter, the new executive director of Rural Vermont;
Cathy Voyer, executive vice president of the Associated General Contractors of
Vermont; Paul Burns, executive director of VPIRG; and Betsy Bishop, president
of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce about their organizations’ wish lists.

Also on the program, we talk
to Jurij Homziak, an assistant professor at the Rubenstein School of environment and natural resources at UVM about his
upcoming Fulbright fellowship to Kazakhstan. For six months, he will conduct research and work
with students at the national university of Kazakhstan on managing the country’s water and natural resources.
