This year, Green Up Day activities are being expanded to help clean up debris still left from Tropical Storm Irene. The expanded initiative was announced this month by Governor Peter Shumlin, who called the "Green Up to Recover Initiative" a plan to reignite volunteerism to help the state recover from the damage left by Tropical Storm Irene. Our guests are Melinda Vieux, president of the non-profit Green Up Vermont, which organizes the annual event, and Dave Rapaport, who works with the state’s Irene Recovery Office.

Also in the program, a Legislative update from VPR’s Statehouse reporters. Lawmakers are aiming to adjourn on Saturday, May 5, but frayed relationships and full calendars will determine whether that goal is met.

And we visit a movie set in Marlboro, where students and professionals are working together on the film, "Northern Borders." VPR’s Angela Evancie reports on the unusual collaboration.
