More than 700 homes in Vermont were damaged or destroyed by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene, and 4,400 households have registered for assistance with FEMA. We look at the emergency assistance FEMA can provide, and the long-term recovery programs that FEMA and the Small Business Administration have for homeowners trying to recover from their losses. Our guests are FEMA representative Billy Penn and SBA representative Carl Sherrill. Also, Chris D’elia of the Vermont Bankers Association explains the role banks can have in helping mortgage holders.

Also, the Vermont Yankee trial over the state’s ability to deny the nuclear power plant’s ability to continue operating concluded in federal court on Wednesday. We talk with Rutland Herald reporter Susan Smallheer about the main arguments Entergy made, and the state’s defense.
