A week after Tropical Storm Irene ripped through Vermont, Governor Peter Shumlin posed this question: "How do we rebuild in a way where we aren’t impacted like this in the future?" A year later, we talk with Shumlin about the lessons learned in river management, road construction and working with FEMA. And we hear your observations and questions about how the state has managed the recovery from Irene so far.

Also, we remember the seven people who lost their lives during Tropical Storm Irene and its aftermath: Kevin Davis of Ludlow; Anthony Doleszny of Brattleboro; father and son Michael J. and Michael G. Garofano of Rutland; William Elliot Flower of Woodstock; Master Sergeant Shawn Stocker of West Rutland; and Ivana Taseva, who was from the Republic of Macedonia.
