Rural Transit: Sometimes You Can Get There From Here

Vermont is one of the
most rural states in the country. That makes public transportation a particular
challenge. But a partnership between Addison County Transit Resources (ACTR)
and Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) that resulted in the new
Route 116 Commuter Route is an example of how it can be accomplished. The route
also has community and corporate support.

ACTR Executive Director Jim Moulton and Chris Cole, Director
of Policy, Planning and Intermodal Development for VTrans, discuss how rural
mass transit is being accomplished in the state and where Vermont
needs to improve.

Also on the program, NHPR Political Reporter Josh Rogers provides an update on the New Hampshire Legislature, including yesterday’s heated exchange in the State House.

And we listen back to a poetry recitation from Burlington High School senior Claude Mumbere who placed second in the national Poetry Out Loud competition in Washington, DC yesterday.
