As we watch the impasse over the federal debt ceiling, questions arise about how it affects people in our region. We learn about the impact on people who count on Medicaid, Social Security and federal programs, and how the debt crisis could affect interest rates across the board. Our guests are Congressman Peter Welch, Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding and state Treasurer Beth Pearce.

Also in the program, what individual homeowners can do about stormwater runoff. We talk with James Ehlers of Lake Champlain International about the BLUE certification program that asks people to commit to practices that mitigate stormwater runoff from their properties.

And we visit a celebration of Upward Bound, a program that’s helped high school students from low-income and immigrant families attain a college education.
