Since 1990, a survey has been conducted every five years to take the pulse of Vermonters regarding their quality of life. We digest the results from the most recently completed survey.

Dr. Vince Bolduc, one of the study’s creators, lets us know how Vermonters feel about education, the environment, economic anxieties and the trustworthiness of their neighbors. He also discusses how happy Vermonters are with their lives and their surroundings. And Vermont Business Roundtable President Lisa Ventriss provides insight on how businesses utilize the data.

Plus, the State Auditors department just completed a study on Sex Offender supervision. Auditor Tom Salmon discusses the findings of the report, including case loads and training of probation officers and the recommendations for improving these areas. He also updates us on where recommendations made last summer for the state’s Sex Offender Registry now stand.

And the 77th Annual Vermont Farm
Show opens today in Barre. It is both a celebration and a showcase of Vermont agriculture, where farmers can come and see new
machinery and showcase their products, and where the public can come check out,
sample and buy Vermont goods. There are also contests for the "best in show"
for everything from maple syrup to vegetables to hay. Manager Jon Turmel talks about this Vermont tradition, which he’s been organizing for the past 25 years.
