It’s been over 100 years since New
York State decreed
that the Adirondacks would remain "forever
wild," but the Adirondack Park
is more than just a natural preserve: it’s a distinctive amalgam of public and
private lands, human and natural communities.
We talk to Jon Erickson, co-editor of the new book "The Great
Experiment in Conservation: Voices from the Adirondack
Park," about the successes and
failures of this region just across the water.

We also talk to Pam Blair, whose two sons have just deployed
to Afghanistan.
