The Vermont State Police recently altered their policy on the use of tasers. And the City of Montpelier has held hearings to decide whether its police officers should carry the devices. They’ve sent their decision on to the City Council recommending against their use.

Attorney General Bill Sorrell discusses the recommendations his office has made on the use of tasers by law enforcement departments.

Also in the program we learn about the Start Where You Are program, run by the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation, VSAC.  At the People’s Academy Middle School in Morrisville, VSAC career planning counselor Liam Danaher gets students as young as seventh grade energized about higher education with a dose of reality and lots of enthusiasm.  Vermont Edition host Jane Lindholm sat in on one of his sessions and brings us a report.

And we read comments from our listener mailbag.
