In September, two migrant farmworkers were arrested during a routine traffic stop. The workers were not involved in the infraction, yet they were asked for immigration documentation. The incident led to an outcry from the migrant farm community and, eventually, a change in the state’s bias-free policing policy.

State Police Director Colonel Thomas L’Esperance discusses how the policy has changed, what it will take to implement it and possible exemptions to the policy.

appointed an advisory panel to explore how the state can maximize the
investment it makes in the University
of Vermont. VPR’s Ross Sneyd
