The problem of drug crime has been brought into focus by a few high-profile arrests and a recent hearing with lawmakers. We look at how Vermont’s law enforcement and criminal justice systems are dealing with drug crime, and what prevention and treatment programs are available. Our guests are Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling, Assistant Attorney General Robert Menzel and Barbara Cimaglio, deputy health commissioner for drug abuse and treatment programs.

Also in the program, environmental reporter Candace Page of the Burlington Free Press has been reporting an in-depth series on Stockbridge’s history of flooding. She shares what the town has experienced in previous floods and whether that’s impacted how the town is rebuilding after Tropical Storm Irene.

And we listen back to some of the voices in the top news stories of the week in our region.
