Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs are names that loom large in the literary canon of the Beat Generation. But the personal connections and friendships among these writers are lesser known. Guest host Mitch Wertlieb talks with Bennington writer Bill Morgan, whose book, "The Typewriter is Holy: The Complete Uncensored History of the Beat Generation," draws on his 20 years as Allen Ginsberg’s archivist.

Also in the program, Montreal Jazz Fest begins this weekend. Music contributor Matt Bushlow previews some of the acts in the festival’s 12-day run.
