In May of 2011 Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph presented its 3rd annual Next Generation concert, featuring local classical musicians of high school age. VPR Classical was there to record it and you can listen to the entire concert by clicking on the links above.
During the week of August 29 to September 2, VPR Classical will present a back-to-school showcase of highlights from the concert. Here’s the on-air schedule:
Monday 8/29
11am pianist Emily Byers plays a Prelude by Rachmaninoff.
6:50pm violinist Kang-Chun Cheng plays a Mazurka by Mlynarski.
Tuesday 8/30
11am Amy Waters sings Solveig’s Song from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Incidental Music.
6:50pm Trio Con Brio (violinists Justin Truell and David Castrignano and violist Ben Fiering play the Terzetto of Dvorak.
Wednesday 8/31
11am violinist Mitchell Goff, cellist Matthew Goff and pianist Aaron Gould-Kavet play a Trio by Beethoven.
6:50pm cellist Matthew Goff and pianist Mitchell Goff play Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise.
Thursday 9/1
11am pianist Julian Marohnic plays a Rhapsody by Brahms.
6:50pm The Kbaptet Quartet (violinists Molly Finlayson and Alexandra Burkot, violist Rachel Finlayson and cellist Rebecca Haynes) play from Ravel’s Quartet.
Friday 9/2
11am violinist Chris Stork plays Bach.
6:50pm Emily Lacroix sings Wie Melodien by Brahms.
