2009
was a year of transitions in Vermont.

Farmers
went out of business under the weight of historically low milk prices.
Thousands lost their jobs in other industries. Gay
and lesbian couples gained the right to legally marry. Fifteen-hundred
National Guard members deployed to Afghanistan.
