Howard Frank Mosher has been living in the Northeast Kingdom for nearly 50 years, with one brief and ill-advised detour to Southern California.  In that time he’s written 11 books, mostly novels, all of them reflecting and illuminating what life has been like in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  These are stories of whisky runners, loggers, hill-farmers.  Families full of love but few words, families with complicated relationships with alcohol and each other.

He spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about how Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom are reflected in his work, and how he adapts real people and historical events to his fictional stories.
