The head of the company that put on a dance party at Memorial Auditorium says there’s nothing to back up claims by Burlington officials that the event was unsafe. Alcohol citations were issued to 16 underage party-goers Friday night.

Barstool Blackout President David Portnoy says he "hadn’t heard a peep" from city officials until Monday, when Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger held a news conference. The mayor announced the city will tighten-up the review process for the use of public buildings.

Police say 16 people were detoxed or hospitalized after the event.

Weinberger says the company won’t be able to hold another such event at Memorial Auditorium.

Portnoy told the Burlington Free Press people in his Massachusetts-based organization thought the Vermont show went well.
