The winner of the 2012 Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year award has been named. It’s the Chaput Family Farms in North Troy.

The farm has been honored for its "sound management practices, outstanding herd performance and strong commitment to agriculture."

The 18,000 acre farm is near the Canadian border. It’s owned by brothers Reg and Michael Chaput, who’ve worked together for 30 years.

The brothers milk 830 cows three times a day. This spring they bought their own milk truck and tanks.

They were honored in September at the Eastern States Exposition, and will be honored again at the Vermont Farm Show, in January.
