Electric customers in Burlington could be paying more for power later this year.
On Monday the city council approved an 11 percent electric rate increase for customers of the city-owned Burlington Electric.
The Vermont Public Service Board must rule on the increase.
The Burlington Electric Department last increased its rates in 2004. At that time rates increased by over 7 percent.
