Former Vermont governor Howard Dean says next week’s presidential election is too close to call.

And Dean says it’s unclear what impact the storm that hit the Eastern Seaboard this week might have on the outcome.

He says Sandy and its aftermath may help President Barack Obama’s re-election chances because it emphasizes his role as commander-in-chief.

But Dean says the storm may have hurt early voting in Virginia, where Democrats have been hoping for an edge among those who cast their ballots before Election Day.
