Derby Wins $25,000 For Dog Park

The Town of Derby has won $25,000 for a dog park in the national Pet Safe competition "Bark for your Park." Derby voted 31,105 times and had the highest votes-to-population ratio. Local residents rallied the town to encourage people to vote, gaining 12,000 votes in the last week alone. 

The prize money will go towards the Kingdom Dog Park that is already underway and could open as early as the end of summer. The park with be open to the public and run by a volunteer committee.
