With just a month left in his final term as Governor, Jim Douglas believes his fiscal stewardship will be one of his lasting legacies. Douglas says that Vermont’s economic picture has been good, especially when compared to the rest of the country, due in part to the resiliency of Vermonters, their hard work and willingness to help one another.

The Governor believes that Vermont has maintained the best bond rating in New England and one of the best in the country because of the state’s willingness to balance its budget without raiding the "rainy day" fund.

Douglas thinks his success as governor came from traveling the entire state and listening to Vermonters.
