A key part of the case against a Randolph murder suspect is under attack by his lawyers.
In a two-day hearing that starts today, attorneys for Michael Jacques will ask a judge to throw out incriminating statements Jacques made to a friend- after his 2008 arrest.
Jacques is charged in the kidnapping and death of his niece, 12-year-old Brooke Bennett.
His lawyers say prosecutors violated Jacques’ rights in using Michael Garcia to obtain information to be used against Jacques after his arrest. Prosecutors deny it.
The hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. in federal court in Burlington.
