VPR News is examining the legacy of Samuel de Champlain while the region observes the 400th anniversary of his exploration of the lake that bears his name.
As the anniversary observations get under way, many people are taking the time to learn more about the French explorer. Some are even going as far as France to learn more about his roots.
Fran Stoddard is one of those people. She’s taking part in the "Quadricentennial Voyage: In Search of Samuel de Champlain’s France," a ten-day journey for friends of Burlington City Arts. She speaks with VPR’s Neal Charnoff.
