(Host) A Chinese teacher at Leland & Gray Union High School in Townsend is Vermont’s 2012 teacher of the year.
Tong Chen was honored at the school today.
As the state’s top teacher, she will travel around Vermont visiting schools and working with other teachers. She is also Vermont’s candidate for National Teacher of the Year.
Chen has taught Chinese language and culture at Leland & Gray for more than six years and is the only authorized advanced placement Chinese teacher in Vermont.
She says she sets high expectations and passes the message to students that learning is a serious matter, but that it can be fun and inspiring.
