In local elections yesterday, four of Vermont’s cities picked their top elected officials.
It wasn’t a race in Winooski or Newport where mayors Mike O’Brien and Paul Monette were running unopposed.
In Vergennes, William Benton defeated former city mayor April Jin.
And in Rutland there was a close race for mayor. City Alderman David Allaire challenged the incumbent Christoper Louras.
But in the end Louras prevailed, with a 400 plus vote margin of victory. Mayor Louras speaks with VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb.
