Early last December Phil Scott announced that he would be seeking to fill the Lieutenant Governor’s post being vacated by Brian Dubie.

Phil Scott grew up in Barre and worked as a businessman for many years after graduating from UVM.  He also became known for racing stock cars at Thunder Road in Barre.  He was first elected to the state senate in 2000, where he’s served for the last 10 years.  Now he wants to be lieutenant governor.  He faces Mark Snelling in the Republican primary next month.

He spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about his candidacy.
