Almost 15 years ago, Vermont, New York and the EPA signed an agreement to address water quality in Lake Champlain. The agreement was called ‘Opportunities for Action’ and it was supposed to restore water quality in the lake and prevent future pollution. ‘Opportunities for Action’ was renewed in 2003 and Quebec joined the effort. The latest version of the plan is scheduled to be signed this week.

Burlington Free Press environmental reporter Candace Page looks at the new plan of action for Lake Champlain, and at a new film that advocates for more aggressive and comprehensive cleanup efforts. ‘Bloom: The Plight of Lake Champlain’ premieres in South Burlington Monday evening.
