On Friday afternoon, Dartmouth College will be holding a welcome celebration for President-elect Philip Hanlon.

Hanlon will take over in July.  He’s a Dartmouth alum and currently provost and executive vice president for external affairs at the University of Michigan.

Hanlon succeeds President Jim Yong Kim, who left to become president of the World Bank. At Michigan, Hanlon was known for finding a lot of small ways to save a lot of money rather than making big, sweeping cuts to bridge budget gaps. And he says he’ll bring that experience to Dartmouth.
