Back in January, Governor Peter Shumlin proposed a five-year lifetime cap on welfare benefits. But lawmakers recently found out that he also wants to eliminate 14 positions dedicated to helping welfare beneficiaries find the jobs they need to get off the program. Earlier this week officials in New Hampshire said they found infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer in the Concord area. Two veteran Vermont State Police bomb sniffing dogs are headed for retirement. A Newport woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she embezzled $400,000 from an auto dealership where she worked as an office manager.
