Police now believe Bill and Lorraine Currier were abducted and killed at an abandoned farmhouse in Essex.

Court documents say investigators found evidence in the basement of an old farmhouse in April, while searching for the missing couple.

The Burlington Free Press reports the disclosure was made by Essex Police Detective Lt. George Murtie in an affidavit filed in Vermont Superior Court. That’s where police are seeking to have death certificates issued for the couple.

Murtie’s statement reveals that police believe the Curriers were taken in their car to the farmhouse and killed there by their abductor.

Murtie wrote that Essex police received this information from an FBI agent.

The Curriers were reported missing when they failed to arrive at work in June of 2011.
