(Host) The president of Lyndon State College has resigned. Carol Moore made her announcement today. It comes as the college faces deficits that Moore has said will require cuts in faculty and staff.

(Zind) Moore says she’s leaving for personal reasons; ending 13 years as president of Lyndon. She’s been dealing with the fallout from her announcement that faculty and staff would have to be cut to deal with a growing budget deficit that is projected at $350,000 in the next fiscal year.
Students had demonstrated against the proposed cuts and faculty members also questioned why positions were being eliminated as student enrollments were growing. Earlier the college had said the number of positions to be cut would be announced by April 15th.
College officials say Moore’s decision means the announcement will be delayed for two weeks. In the meantime Lyndon’s proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1 will be reviewed by the Chancellor of the Vermont state college system.
