Sanders blasts Bernanke’s re-nomination

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders says President Obama’s decision to nominate Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to another term is a mistake.

The Vermont independent says Wall Street’s greed and illegal behavior fueled the biggest economic bust in America since the Great Depression, and that Bernanke – as the country’s top economist – was "asleep at the wheel" and did nothing to prevent it.

He says the nation needs a Federal Reserve chairman more focused on expanding the economy.

Obama, who made the announcement Tuesday, says Bernanke shepherded America through its economic crisis and helped stop it.
