The Senate has confirmed Vermont’s next U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal.

The Senate voted today to confirm the nominations of Tristram Coffin as the top federal prosecutor in the state, and David Demag as the U.S. Marshal.

Both men were nominated by President Barack Obama after being recommended for the positions by Senator Patrick Leahy.

Leahy says Demag is the first U.S. Marshal nominated by this president to be approved by the Senate.

Coffin has worked as an assistant U.S. attorney and has been in private practice.

Demag served in a variety of law enforcement posts in Vermont, most recently as chief in Essex.
