Environmental officials in Vermont say they’ve signed off on five environmental permits for the Kingdom Community Wind project in Lowell.
The state Agency of Natural Resources issued two stormwater permits for construction of an access road on Lowell Mountain, a stormwater permit for controlling discharges from impervious surfaces, a permit for wetlands work and a water quality certification.
Jon Groveman, general counsel for the state Agency of Natural Resources, says scientists from the Department of Environmental Conservation and biologists for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife evaluated the impacts of the project and recommended changes to it to preserve the mountain’s existing hydrology
The $150 million project, which will erect 21 wind turbines along the mountain ridge, is still awaiting final go-ahead from Vermont utility regulators to begin construction.
