Vermont State Police are advising people against leaving valuables in unoccupied vehicles after reporting a rash of vehicle break-ins in Charlotte.

Police say there have been numerous instances of people smashing car windows and grabbing items in the parking area of Mount Philo State Park and at the Charlotte Park and Wildlife Refuge.

Items taken from vehicles include purses, cash, credit cards, cell phones and cameras.

Police are encouraging the public to avoid leaving valuable items in unoccupied vehicles.
