(Host) For nearly a century families have been coming to Ohana Camp in Fairlee to stay in rustic cabins, ramble over the trails, cool off in the lake, and try new skills, like archery.

But this week is the first time the camp has set aside time exclusively for the families of Vermont guard soldiers serving in Afghanistan. The camp is hosting the guard families free of charge.

VPR’s Steve Zind paid a visit and spoke with the wife of one soldier who’s there with her two children.
