In addition to voting on state-wide and Federal offices in November, Vermonters will be faced with a Constitutional amendment question. Proposal 5 is the amendment that would allow 17-year-olds to vote in a primary election if they turn 18 by the following general election.

Jeanette White is a Windham County Senator who sponsored the amendment. Alison Kaiser is president of the Municipal Clerk’s and Treasurer’s Association, a group that opposes it. Deb Markowitz is the Vermont Secretary of State.  They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the amendment.
