On Friday, downtown Bennington was the finish line of the 1500 mile "Great Race" — 60 antique cars revved and chugged through a temporary Arc de Triomphe to cap off the five-day car rally.

The race is modeled on the 1908 Great Race from New York to Paris, immortalized in a 1965 comedy with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

This year it started in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The winner isn’t the first car to cross the finish line, but instead it’s the car that scores best on series of speed and navigation instructions.
