Sightings of a mysterious sea serpent in Lake Champlain date back to Native American myths. The sea monster, known as "Champ," remains elusive, and questions remain about the veracity of many Champ sightings and photographs.

Robert E. Bartholomew has written a comprehensive history of Champ and the many forms he has taken over the years. He spoke with VPR’s Peter Biello about his new book and the many ways in which the questions we have about Champ reveal a great deal about ourselves as human beings.
