A Springfield man has been accused of throwing a bottle at a state trooper and injuring him in a scuffle at a gas station.

Police said 30-year-old Travis Duffy entered the Springfield Mobil store and asked to use the phone last night. He became agitated when he was told store policy doesn’t allow it.

Police said, as employees called 911, Duffy started to open packages of food, eating some and throwing some around the store.

The trooper arrived to see Duffy cramming food into his mouth and starting to open a bottle of wine. The trooper told him not to open the bottle.

Police said Duffy then threw the bottle, hitting the trooper in the head. The trooper was treated at a hospital. Duffy was taken into custody.
