It’s all over for the University of Vermont’s Women’s basketball team. The Cats fell 84 to 66 last night against Notre Dame in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The number 10-seeded Cats were outplayed by the second-seeded Fighting Irish. The team had a season-high 25 turnovers. Vermont’s two high scoring guards were May Kotsopoulos who finished with 12 points, and Courtnay Pilypaitis with 11.

Vermont coach Sharon Dawley says while the Irish defense was tough, the Catamounts were sloppy. Dawley says the team was nervous playing on a big stage, and it showed.

Notre Dame advanced to the Kansas City Regional semifinal, their eighth trip to the round of 16 in last 14 years.

But the Vermont team ends their season knowing they still made history beating Wisconsin on Sunday for their first NCAA tournament win ever.
