Visiting Artists

For this month’s installment in Vermont Edition’s series "Visiting Artists," Jane Lindholm traveled to Dummerston, and visited Dan Snow, a stoneworker who creates fire pits, arch bridges, staircases and fantastical sculptures.

A pair of strong, sure hands and a mash hammer are pretty much the only tools needed to create a dry stone wall. With no mortar or other binding materials, the stones do all the work to hold the wall together. When the hands involved are those of an artist, an ordinary stone wall becomes a work of sculpture.
