The constitution of the Vermont Republic was written in 1777 and 232 years later, that document remains largely intact as the state’s foundation for government and individual rights. We dig into the history, lore and legacy of this living document, including how it dealt with slavery and land ownership, and how the constitution changed when Vermont became a state. Host Jane Lindholm’s guests are lawyer and historian Paul Gillies and State Archivist Gregory Sanford.
