The lights were coming back on Wednesday morning after high winds and rain caused thousands of power outages throughout Vermont.

As of 8:00 Wednesday morning, the outage map on Green Mountain Power’s website showed only around 30 customers, in 15 towns, still without power.

More than half of those affected are in Halifax.

The number of outages fluctuated throughout yesterday afternoon and evening, with a high of about 21,000 homes and business losing power at one point.

Parts of Chittenden County were especially hard hit, including South Burlington, which had more than 6,000 outages.
