A company working to install a wind-power project on Grandpa’s Knob in the town of Castleton is going to keep working on the project despite the tough economic times.

Reports say the Connecticut-based Noble Environmental is postponing projects in upstate New York and laying off workers.

But Project Manager Brad King says the future of the Vermont project is still being decided. Meanwhile, the work will continue.

In January, Noble put up two meteorological towers on the knob to measure wind speed, wind direction and temperature. King says data from the towers is encouraging, although he wouldn’t be specific.

Nobel is considering installing 25 turbines in Castleton, which could generate up to 50 megawatts of power.
