Journalist and peace activist Colman McCarthy says Americans know a lot about war history, but comparatively little about peace history. VPR Presents Colman McCarthy on the importance of teaching peace. In this lecture at St. Michael’s College, he stresses the importance of peace studies programs in high schools and colleges.

Long-time columnist for the Washington Post, contributor to The New Yorker, the Atlantic and The Nation, Colman McCarthy has been called "the liberal conscience of The Washington Post." He is also the founder and director of the Center for Teaching Peace.
