Live Friday at Noon: Joe Jackson

British singer-songwriter Joe Jackson is popular for his innovative work over the past 30 years. At a young age, he played both the violin and piano and by 16 years old he was playing in various bars in England. In the 1970’s, he joined a British-based trio that challenged the current punk scene with power-pop new wave. A pivotal moment in his career was his signing to A&M Records in 1978, under which he released a myriad of popular hits. Among those include his album "Body and Soul," which showcased his popular single "You Can’t Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)."

Though the five time Grammy nominee decided to move back in the direction of classical composition in the late 1990’s, he has recently released another pop oriented album. Recorded in Berlin and mixed in New York, the tracks feature Joe on the piano/vocals along with musicians Graham Maby and Dave Houghton. "Rain," which was released at the end of January, is a masterfully humorous, sophisticated and original album.
